ENCORE was my final short film for my "Intro to Film Production" class at UT Austin. For this project, I had to make a compelling 4-minute short film using the technical tools and skills we learned this semester to craft a strong and professional finished product. The script is a mixture of inspirations from my own life, fighting with myself over my future, and my deep love for mid-2010s angsty alternative rock music videos. I came up with the idea for making a film that highlights the competitive nature of breaking into the music industry as I conversed with some friends who are also aspiring music industry professionals. Through our conversations, we agreed that there are not enough films that discuss the unique internal and external challenges that come with pursuing a career in the professional music industry. Although I do love the story told in this film, I took this as an opportunity to mainly be a creative outlet and test-run for future projects that I want to create, therefore, music videos, concerts, and the rock music scene heavily inspire ENCORE. At its core, ENCORE follows a girl who strives to work in the music industry and the battles she faces when her friends want to move on to typical "real" careers.
