The Cozy Fall Weather Is Ready for aron! (1824 Press Conference Recap)

Modern-day jazz artist aron! first made a name for himself with his 2025 release “table for two,” off his EP cozy you (and other nice songs). Inspired by legends Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, this six-track diary dives into the vulnerable world of romance. Tying back to the title, a relationship can’t be cozy without being open and honest. aron! is back and gearing up for his debut album, Too Close For Running, which is set to release on September 18. Five singles have been shared thus far, including collabs with dodie and Mei Semones. Sitting down with Universal Music Group’s 1824 program, aron! held a press conference for music publications to get firsthand access to the cozy world of Too Close For Running.
“Jazz is in everything,” aron! stated when asked how jazz has personally influenced his music. He mentioned how artists like pop icons Harry Styles, Bruno Mars, and Ariana Grande all have bits of jazz mixed into their music. When describing the sound of the new record, the artist mentioned taking bits from a period he loves, which happens to be the 1940s, while also being inspired by current-day musicians like John Mayer.
When asked what the album title Too Close For Running meant to him, aron! mentioned that he likes when album titles reflect the certain periods of life the album is based on. He described the feeling of you’re down bad/falling in love as “when feelings start becoming real intense, and you start to run away - Now we’re too close for running.” He described his hopes that when people listen to this record, it inspires them to create their own art. “In some aspects I just make the thing [record] and release it, and it’s not mine anymore,” aron! stated when asked what he hoped listeners would take away from his music. If anyone listens to this album and they’re inspired to create their own world of songs, he illustrates it as a job done.
Diving into the time it took to make Too Close For Running, aron! brought up that he had these songs written for a while, but it took a long time to actually record them for the album. The recording process started in January of this year. When recording his EP, cozy you (and other nice songs), those songs were recorded over a weekend, which is very different compared to this debut album process. With this new work, aron! explained that he is driven to make his own mark and have his own distinct sound in the world of jazz music. He mentioned how he loves the gritty sound of old recordings, but has no point in recreating the past. He spices his artistry up by using different words associated with technology, like phones and the way things sound now, as opposed to back in the 1940s. Too Close For Running breaks aron! away from the sound of “table for two,” which creates pop-jazz chords from what listeners have heard ahead of release and describes the album as a journey. It is clear his artistry will be known with this debut album.
Orange is a prominent color in the aesthetic of the record, solidified by the song, “Clementine.” When asked about the cover inspiration for Too Close For Running, aron! mentioned that he took inspiration from a William Tell story about how Tell shot an apple off of his son’s head. From aron!’s perspective, the album cover shows him being hunted by Cupid, shooting a clementine off of his head. The album artwork is a journey in and of itself - it is only a matter of time before we get to hear the whole musical journey of Too Close For Running.
In the near future, the weather will finally cool and fall will be upon us, the perfect circumstance to wrap up with a blanket and listen to Too Close For Running.
