In its second annual year, the beloved MeadowFest will return to the Far Out Lounge in Austin, TX, on August 23 with a stand-out lineup. Slipfast sat down with the founder of the fest, Greg Goodman, to learn more about what this day is all about.

MeadowFest was created to honor the memory of the young Austin musician, Meadow Goodman. Last year, the festival drew in over 1,000 attendees and raised $40,000 for the SIMS Foundation and OutYouth, two nonprofits dedicated to mental health in the Austin area. These beneficiaries remain the same for this year’s event.

When speaking with Goodman about the message behind MeadowFest, he expressed that “the most meaningful thing to us is if in our daughter’s memory, we can help other families and children.” Goodman wants to “emphasize the point that we cannot afford to allow this barrier to continue to be up when it comes to mental health. We need to take those barriers down and realize that there's a community of people: your family, friends, and neighbors included, and [there are] organizations out there that understand and that will help.  That's what this is, this is all about supporting and reinforcing community.”

This year, the lineup includes stellar Austin acts like Golden Dawn Arkestra, Brownout, Night Drive, Carrie Rodriguez, and more. “It’s a music festival, but it’s also about mental health,” Goodman explained. In addition to the musical lineup lasting from 3 pm to midnight, there will be several mental health organizations at the festival giving out information and supplemental resources regarding hotlines, other organizations, and more. There will also be onsite activations and activities, including raffles and festival-specific merchandise.

The event is managed by the Meadow E. Goodman Foundation for Mental Health Awareness, a nonprofit founded by Greg and his wife to help put on last year’s MeadowFest. This foundation is only beginning, as the Goodmans continue to find ways to raise awareness for mental health and start new initiatives backed by the foundation.

Slipfast and Goodman ended the conversation with what Goodman was most looking forward to for the second annual MeadowFest.

“ I think it's just about the message of what we can do coming together as a community. I've put things in place that set the stage for opening our minds to the possibilities of what it means to come together, celebrate, and have a wonderful day of music and fun, but doing it in an atmosphere that keeps our minds focused on the importance of mental health.  It's all about reach and communication.”

MeadowFest will be held on August 23, 2025, at The Far Out Lounge in Austin, Texas.
